The producers of the film “Birdman” took home the coveted Producers Guild of America Darryl F. Zanuck Award for motion pictures on Saturday night in Century City, an honor that typically leads to best-picture glory on Oscar night.

In the television category, top honors went to “Breaking Bad,” which ended its five-year run on AMC in September. And although “The Lego Movie” failed to make the cut for an Academy Award, it won the award for outstanding animation production.

Jerry Seinfeld’s web series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” was named Outstanding Digital Series.
