Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were approached by a witness who told them that the owner of the 7-Eleven Store, located at the corner of Lincoln Boulevard and Pico Boulevard, was attempting to apprehend a possible vandalism suspect on Friday, Sept. 18.
The officers responded and learned that the suspect had picked up a large rock and had hurled the rock through the plate glass window of the 7-Eleven.
As the suspect was doing this the owner of the 7-Eleven had been crossing the street and had subsequently given chase and caught the suspect in the 700 block of Pico Boulevard.
The officers took this suspect, aged 21 and homeless, into custody and he was charged with vandalism. Bail was set at $20,000
