Santa Monica Police To Hold Free Community Self-Defense Class This Saturday:

A free Community Self-Defense Class will be held for adults who live

The Santa Monica Police Department is collaborating with Krav Maga Worldwide to offer a free Community Self-Defense Class this Saturday, Oct. 24 to adults who live, work, or attend school in Santa Monica.

Due to the overwhelming response for the previous two classes held this past September and early October, this class was added and will be the third and final class for 2015. (Limit one class per person.)

This is a great chance for any adult who has concerns about personal safety to learn techniques which could help you if you are ever in a vulnerable position.

Participants 16-18 years of age must have a signed consent from a parent or guardian.

The free 2-hour class (3 p.m. – 5 p.m.) will be taught by Santa Monica Police Officers from our Defensive Tactics Unit. Please wear athletic clothing and shoes.

The class will be offered this Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at the West LA Krav Maga facility at 11400 Olympic Blvd., Ste. #100, Los Angeles, CA.

Advance reservations are mandatory; class size is limited – register now!

Letting Go of SMO:

Full Disclosure: Columnists are rarely experts. With today’s technology-intensive lifestyles, there are people who write columns in tech publications who can actually give you some useful advice on how to improve the speed of your computer. But alas, like most of us, I’m just an observer albeit one that has the privilege of weighing-in once a week in this newspaper on things that seem to matter. That said, you should also know I love airplanes. My father was a pilot when I was a kid and there was nothing that topped taking a ride with him in a single-engine Cessna on a Sunday afternoon.
