A motorist was taken into custody today after driving a pickup truck onto the lawn of the Santa Monica courthouse.
The unidentified driver surrendered shortly before 9 a.m., following a brief standoff outside the building in the 1700 block of Main Street, the Santa Monica Police Department reported.
The motorist may have been despondent about something, a police officer said. No injuries were reported.
