Magical Music of Disney by the Samohi Orchestras:

As a reprise to last year’s widely successful fall musical extravaganza, the Samohi Orchestra’s will once again present the Magical Music of Disney on Friday, October 7, 2016. Young and old will be transported to the world of Disney for a wonderful night of music and fun.The "The Magical Music of Disney II" will feature the sights of Disney animation coupled with the sounds of the Samohi Orchestras.This vibrant community-wide event celebrates the performing arts programs in the Santa Monica/Malibu school district.

Emceed by actor and Samohi Orchestra parent, Robb Brown, this event will be held at the historic Barnum Hall located on the Santa Monica High School campus. Doors open at 6:30 pm.There will be food, dessert and beverages available outside of Barnum and many photo opportunities. Feeling inspired? Come dressed as your favorite character and be part of the Disney-themed costume contest that will be held that evening. And don’t forget to bring your mouse ears!

“The first symphonic music many of us were introduced to as children was from Disney." commented Joni Swenson, director of the SAMOHI Orchestras. "We’re excited to perform some of those cherished tunes. We look forward to welcoming the community and if you attended last years’ concert, there will be new surprises.”

“The Magical Music of Disney” concert is open to the public and reserved seat tickets are available for purchase in advance online atwww.samohiorchestras.org

. Tickets are priced as follows: adults $20; students $10; adults 65+ $10. If still available, tickets can also be purchased at the door that evening

Proceeds from the concert benefit the many efforts of the Samohi Orchestras program including music coaches for all orchestras levels, scholarships for students without access to private lessons, and the Samohi Orchestra Tour Scholarship Fund. The tour provides students not only a perspective on the rich history of music but also gives them the opportunity to play in some of the world’s historical music halls.
