Wienerschnitzel Celebrates 56 Years of Business With 56-Cent Hot Dogs

To mark the 56th year since John Galardi opened his first Wienerschnitzel in Wilmington, the Irvine-based chain Tuesday will offer a special 56-cent price for its Original Mustard Dog, a grilled hot dog topped with French’s mustard, or its Original Chili Dog.

The special price is valid on Tuesday only, while supplies last, at participating Wienerschnitzel restaurants, and there is a limit of 10 hot dogs per person.

“We can’t think of a better way to mark our 56th year of making food the Wienerschnitzel way than with 56-cent dogs,” said JR Galardi, the company’s executive vice president. “We’re proud to celebrate the success that my father, John Galardi, started back in 1961. The only challenge for hot dog fans is choosing between the Mustard and Chili Dog.”

John Galardi started in the restaurant industry in Missouri at the age of 12, and moved to Los Angeles at 19 to open his first Wienerschnitzel. As the chain grew, he added The Original Hamburger Stand restaurants in Denver and other cities, and Tastee-Freez ice cream to Wienerschnitzel menus nationwide.

Wienerschnitzel currently operates or franchises 331 restaurants in 10 states and Guam, serving up more than 120 million hot dogs annually.
