On August 4, 2017 at about 6:28 p.m. the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) received numerous 9-1-1 calls regarding a possible shooting with a victim down in the area of Main Street and Strand Avenue. As officers arrived on scene, they located a male victim lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot

The victim was treated at the scene by Santa Monica Fire Department Paramedics and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.

As officers were searching the area, officers saw the suspect in the area of 3rd Street and Hollister Avenue. The suspect was holding a handgun and pointed the weapon at officers.
Additional officers arrived and confronted the suspect, which led to an exchange of gunfire.

The suspect was struck and taken into custody. The suspect was treated at the scene by Santa Monica Fire Department Paramedics and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspect has been identified as Christopher Charles Davis, a 46 year-old male. SMPD Detectives are actively investigating the incident.
