Dance Studio No 1: Training Santa Monica Dancers for Over 20 years

By Staff Writer

Established in 1992, Dance Studio No 1 (DS1) has been a committed member of the West Los Angeles and Santa Monica communities for over two decades. DS1 is well-known for its commitment to dance education and its nurturing environment. While Dance Studio No 1 has highly regarded pre-professional and young children’s ballet programs, it also offers modern, acro-dance, hip-hop, open ballet and conditioning classes.

Through small class sizes, DS1 fosters each student’s potential with well-designed dance programs that carefully consider each dancer’s developmental age, motor skills, capabilities and interests. DS1’s beloved Young Children’s Program offers students ages 3-6 the opportunity to begin their dance training in an engaged and fun-loving manner through Fairytale Dance, Pre Ballet and Primary Ballet classes. Children can also participate in a number of events and camps, like Fairytale Tea Parties or Princess camps.

Many of the DS1 students grow up through the program, eventually entering the successful pre-professional program. These students have been accepted into prestigious ballet programs and universities across the country. DS1 students have also placed in the Top-3 of the Youth America Grand Prix Regional Semi-Finals and have also qualified in the distinguished Solo Seal Award.

With two recitals each year, DS1 students gain invaluable time on stage and are able to celebrate their hard work with their families. During the winter term, students can participate in ballets like Peter and the Wolf or The Jungle Book. This winter, students will perform in The Nutcracker Twist at Santa Monica High School, December 8 and 9.

As a complement to its exceptional training, what sets Dance Studio No. 1 apart from its competitors is an enduring sense of community that exists among students, parents and teachers. DS1 provides competitive-level training within a supportive environment: an experience for young people of great value, not easily duplicated.

Dance Studio No 1 is located at 12121 Pico Blvd # 2C, Los Angeles, CA 90064. They can be reached at (310) 979-9929 or by visiting http://dancestudiono1.com/.
