Santa Monica Police Prevent Man From Jumping Onto 10-Freeway

Freeway reopens after being shut down in both directions

Santa Monica police prevented a man from jumping onto the Interstate-10 Freeway at 4th Street Friday afternoon.

The man climbed over the rail at the 4th Street overpass bridge around 2:40 p.m.

Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) officers responded to the scene and formed a human chain to pull the man away from the ledge.

The incident, which occurred a day after a man died by suicide under the Santa Monica Pier, shut down the 10-Freeway in both directions.
