Donate April 17-22 at Samohi Michigan gate during school hours
Have a formal dress, suit or tuxedo you no longer wear hanging in your closet? Consider donating to the Santa Monica High School Prom Boutique to help all students have the full prom experience.
The Santa Monica High School Prom Boutique is collecting newly or gently used formal dresses, shoes, suits, tuxedos, purses, jewelry and unopened cosmetics and hosiery. These items can be dropped off during school hours at the Samohi 7th and Michigan gate, once school gets back from spring break on April 17 through April 22. The boutique is also accepting gift certificates for beauty services, florists, gas and limos. Cash donations can be made by visiting this link: https://bit.ly/PrmBtqCash. In addition, the Boutique is signing up volunteers to assist students with their selections. Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to fill out this form: https://bit.ly/PrmBtqVol22.
Prom is an unforgettable high school tradition filled with friends, photos, dancing the night away and lifelong memories. Yet, with the average prom night costing more than $1,000 according to Samohi, this special night comes with a steep price. The Samohi Prom Boutique was established in 2019 by House Principal Lauren Paule-Sheahan, Community Liaison Johanna De La Rosa and Parent Lupe Ybarra Smith, to ensure every student is able to have the full prom experience. From clothes, to corsages and boutonnieres, as well as limo rides, the boutique has it all and provides it free of charge to students.
“My family could not afford to help me pay for prom, so I really appreciated this special opportunity from Samohi,” said a former prom boutique recipient. “My parents were so grateful and excited to share this joyful occasion with me!”
Prom is planned for June 4, 2022 with the theme “Dancing Under the Stars.”
