Pier Ferris Wheel to Display Giant Flag, Military Seals for Veterans Day

Free ceremony with Chinook flyover, awards set for Nov. 11

The Pacific Park Ferris wheel will light up Tuesday night with a 90-foot animated American flag and the seals of the five U.S. armed services to mark Veterans Day.

The solar-powered ride’s 174,000 LED lights will cycle through red, white and blue patterns from sunset around 4:53 p.m. until midnight, visible along the coast.

A free public ceremony begins at 11 a.m. on the pier’s west parking deck, co-hosted by the city and the U.S. Army.

Pacific Park will provide free ride tickets to veterans and active-duty members.
