Brentwood Expects Test From St. Anthony:

Brentwood School will begin its football season Friday night but its opponent has already won a game.

Brentwood will travel to Clark Field in Lakewood to oppose St. Anthony, which defeated Calvary Chapel Friday night, 28-26.

Brentwood Coach Patrick Brown, who witnessed the game, said St. Anthony will be a formidable non-league opponent.

“They have a big offensive line and good athletes in the skill positions,” said Brown. “They have a running back who’s tough to control if he gets into the secondary.”

Brown is anxious to see how several of his players do in their varsity debuts. He says the most experienced portion of his team is the offensive line.

“They’ve played a couple of years and they’re pretty good,” he said.

In addition, the Eagles will have good depth at running back with returnees Alex Kelln and Ray Nicholson backed up by two newcomers. He said the young reserves will likely be called upon because Kelln and Nicholson are also important on defense. They’re both outside linebackers.

The game will be the first of only three non-league contests for the Eagles, who’ll then start league play because the Alpha League has added two teams.
