Samohi Boys Romp In First Round:

The first round of the CIF boys basketball playoffs didn’t figure to be troublesome for Santa Monica High. The Vikings made sure it wasn’t.

Samohi, which went undefeated in the Ocean League and had the homecourt advantage, cruised to a 64-39 victory over Quartz Hill, a team that won only five games all season.

The CIF has expanded the playoffs in recent years, allowing in teams that wouldn’t have qualified in the past.

Center Harry Horn led Samohi with 14 points.

Samohi won its 16th game in the last 17 to become 21-6. The Vikings are the No. 8 seed in the 1A division. They reached the semi-finals last season.
