SMLL East and West Begin Interleague Play:

Santa Monica Little League began interleague play this week in the Majors and AAA divisions.  The six teams from SM East will play one game against the six teams from SM West.  The first three interleague games count toward the first-half standings and the final three interleague games count toward the second-half standings which are applicable to California District 25 Tournament of Champions.  Each league champion in both Majors and AAA will represent Santa Monica Little Leagues in TOC.

Both major division leagues are off to a great start with Des Bunting’s Majors A’s finishing the first round of East play undefeated at 5-0, followed by Wes Terry’s Dodgers and Mike Slinger’s Yankees both at 3-2.  In the Majors West action, Matt Steinhaus’ Indians and Ron Schlessinger’s Mets stood 4-1, followed by Cristian Rosales’ Cardinals and Mitch Dorf’s White Sox at 3-2.

In first round of AAA East league play Mike McCaffrey’s A’s were undefeated at 5-0, followed by John Kelly’s Giants at 4-1.  In the AAA West, Donny Brand’s Cubs posted a 4-1 record, with Bruce MacWilliams’ Mets, Alex Hyde-White’s Reds, and Randy Banchik’s White Sox all one game back at 3-2.

ºThe SMLL Juniors division concludes exhibition play this week and officially begins its season following SMMUSD spring break.  All games will be played on the main diamond at Clover Park.
