Man Arrested For Stealing Macallan Fine Oak 30 From Santa Monica Bev Mo’: APB: Grand Whiskey, Grand Theft

This story begins on June 22, at 8:40 p.m. when officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to the Bev Mo’ at 3212 Wilshire Boulevard to investigate a theft report. When they arrived the store manager told them that a man had entered the store and had stolen a high-priced bottle of Scotch Whiskey (Macallan Fine Oak 30). The officers learned that the theft had been recorded on the store video cameras. The officers summoned forensic personnel who lifted some prints from the inside of the glass cabinet, thus identifying the suspect.

On Saturday, Aug. 13, officers of the Los Angeles Police Department (Pacific Division), who were aware that a warrant had been issued for the arrest of this man (as a result of the efficiency police computer network), spotted him and notified the Santa Monica Police Department. Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department arrested this man, and he was charged with grand theft. The bail for this 47-year-old Los Angeles resident was set at $1,180.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com
