Legislative LGBT Caucus Endorses Butler For Re-Election:

The campaign to re-elect Assemblymember Betsy Butler to the California State Assembly announced the unanimous endorsement of the California Legislative Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender (LGBT) Caucus.

Initially formed in 2002, the Legislative LGBT Caucus works on issues involving LGBT Californians, furthering the goal of equality and justice for all.

The formation of the LGBT Caucus made California the first state in the country to recognize an official caucus of openly-LGBT state legislators.

The caucus is currently chaired by Senator Christine Kehoe, with other members including Assembly Speaker John Pérez, Senator Mark Leno, and Assemblymembers Tom Ammiano, Toni Atkins, Richard Gordon and Ricardo Lara.

“The Legislative LGBT Caucus is proud to endorse Assemblymember Betsy Butler for re-election,” said Senator Kehoe, Caucus Chair. “As a Board Member of Equality California, vocal opponent of Proposition 8 and someone who has raised tens of thousands of dollars and worked tirelessly to help elect LGBT leaders in California, there is no better choice for the LGBT community than Betsy Butler. Betsy has spent decades supporting us and now it is time for us to stand with her.”

Assemblymember Betsy Butler was elected to the California State Assembly in 2010 and is seeking re-election in the 50th Assembly District.
