Santa Monica Celebrates July 4 At Main Street Parade:

Highlights from Santa Monica's Sixth Annual 4th of July Parade.

A day of pride, patriotism, flag waving, and family fun was enjoyed by thousands at the Sixth Annual Santa Monica 4th of July Parade as it made its way down Main Street on Wednesday morning.

This parade featured several Grand Marshals — all local science teachers — as this year’s parade theme emphasized science and technology. They were Benjamin Kay (Santa Monica High School), Joe Wise (New Roads High School), Marianna O’Brien (Lincoln Middle School), and Kristin Jurewicz (John Adams Middle School).

The parade, which was presented by the Ocean Park Association, started at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Santa Monica Civic Center and proceeded down Main Street towards the Venice border.
