Issues focusing on Santa Monica Airport’s air pollution, noise, health, and safety issues will be discussed when Concerned Residents Against Airport Pollution (CRAAP) hold its fifth consecutive Santa Monica City Council Candidates Forum on Santa Monica Airport issues next week.
The forum will take place Thursday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. inside the Santa Monica Business Park, just north of Santa Monica Airport, at 3250 Ocean Park Boulevard, Suite 160, Santa Monica, 90405 (parking lot entrance from 31st Street).
All 15 Santa Monica City Council Candidates, including two incumbents, vying for four open seats have been invited to participate.
The candidates will have the opportunity to make an opening and closing statement.
Martin Rubin, Director of CRAAP, will moderate the forum.
“As we approach the June 30, 2015 termination date of the 1984 Santa Monica Airport Agreement, this fifth forum will target the candidates’ views regarding the future of the 227 acres that are now Santa Monica Airport,” Rubin said.
Rubin also said Santa Monica voters, as well as Los Angeles’ impacted residents, have expressed great interest in knowing how the future Santa Monica City Council will proceed, and he, as forum moderator will aim to get direct answers from the candidates.
The forum is free and open to the public. There will be free on-site parking with validation.
