Westside Boys Basketball Teams Advance In CIF Playoffs: Update #7 Samohi Wins Over El Toro In Finals, To Play Norbonne In State CIF Game

The Westside saw five of its teams enter the playoffs and compete in a winner advances tournament bracket to determine how far teams will advance toward the championship round of the CIF Southern Section Boys Basketball.

Santa Monica High School won in the championship game against El Toro 66-56 at the Anaheim Arena to win the CIF Southern Section Boys Basketball crown.

Westside teams that competed for the 2013 CIF Southern Section crowns include: Santa Monica High School (23-6), Crossroads (15-10), St. Monica Catholic (12-15), Brentwood (28-3) and Windward (18-8).

Brentwood lost against Pacific Hills 74-65 at Mater Dei High School Saturday night.

Division I AA:

First Round

*Santa Monica won against Alhambra 75-32 at home Friday, Feb. 15.

Second Round

Santa Monica won against Burbank 58-46 away Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Quarter-Finals

Santa Monica won against Aliso Niguel 75-63 away Friday.

Semi-Finals

Santa Monica won against Dana Hills 60-41 at home Tuesday night.

Finals

Santa Monica won away against El Toro 66-56 at the Anaheim Arena Saturday night.

Next game for Santa Monica is against Norbonne in the CIF-State Division 1 Basketball Championships Wednesday at home at 7 p.m.

 

Division IV AA:

First Round

*Windward won at home against Ribet Academy 66-55 in the first round of the playoffs Wednesday, Feb. 13.

Second Round

Windward won against Oaks Christian 77-51 at home Friday, Feb. 15.

Quarterfinals

Windward lost against Lutheran 73-68 away Tuesday, Feb 19.

Division IV A:

First Round

*Crossroads won against Sage Hill 67-46 in the first round of the playoffs at home Wednesday, Feb. 13.

*St. Monica won against University Prep. away in the first round of the playoffs 71-48 Wednesday, Feb. 13.

*Brentwood won in the first round of the playoffs 72-45 against Malibu Wednesday. Feb. 13.

Second Round

*Crossroads lost to Cantwell-Sacred Heart 78-57 away Friday, Feb. 15.

*St. Monica lost in the second round of the playoffs against Brentwood 70-31 at home Friday, Feb. 15.

*Brentwood won against St. Margaret’s 78-57 at home Tuesday, Feb. 19.
