“Spamalot” Opens Today On Stage At Santa Monica’s Morgan-Wixson Theatre:

The Morgan-Wixson Theatre in Santa Monica today opens performances of Monty Python’s “Spamalot.”

The production will run Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm through Aug. 3.

Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” “Spamalot” the musical was the 2005 Tony winner for Best Musical and tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail.

Flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen, and show-stopping musical numbers are just a few of the reasons audiences everywhere are eating up Spamalot.

The original 2005 Broadway production, directed by Mike Nichols, won three Tony Awards, including the Tony Award for Best Musical of the 2004–2005 season and received 14 Tony Award nominations.

During its initial run of over 1,500 performances it was seen by more than two million people and grossed over $175 million.

Once again, Anne Gesling directs and musical directs this local adaption.

Gesling most recently musical directed “Avenue Q,” which sold out all performances in a five-week run at the Morgan-Wixson.

She has been involved at the Morgan-Wixson for more than 25 years and also directed popular summer musicals “Crazy For You,” “Chicago,” and “A Chorus Line,” among others.

The creative team includes Lauren Blair (choreographer), Thomas A. Brown (set designer), William Wilday (lighting designer), and Meredith Wright (producer).

The cast of Spamalot features Joe Anderson, Holly Childers, Amy Coles, Steven Flowers, Larry Gesling, Paul Guay, Spencer Johnson, Kira Lindsay, Aric Martin, Ed Mcbride, Amanda Mead-Tatum, Roy Okida, Isabella Olivas, James Olivas, Marc Ostroff, Shaina Ostroff, Scott Senior, Laura Sheehan, Robin Twitty, and Steve Weber.

Morgan-Wixson Theatre is located at 2627 Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica.

Reserved seats are $25-$30 online at www.morgan-wixson.org or call the theatre box office at 310.828.7519.
