Samohi Vikings Football Drop Third Game In A Row: Vikings fall to Hart at home

The first Ocean League game for the Santa Monica Vikings figures to be a stiff test. After three straight losses, including a 26-14 to defeat to Hart at Santa Monica College last Friday, the Vikings have a bit of motivation in front of them to get it right on the field.

It is homecoming week for Santa Monica (2-3), and nothing would be better for the Vikings than to crank out a win against Ocean League rival Morningside at Corsair Field. After registering victories against Redondo Union and Palisades, Santa Monica has dropped non-league games to prep powerhouses Mater Dei, Valencia, and Hart.

There’s like home cooking that can make everything right. The Vikings would like nothing better than to get off league play going in the right direction. They’ll try to do that behind the all-purpose play of leading rusher Kwame Duggins and the throwing arm of quarterback Nico Basile.

Wide receiver De’Jai Whitaker, who leads the team in reception yards, is another weapon for the Vikings to unleash in league. The 6’4”, 185 pound Whitaker has caught four touchdown passes this season.

Santa Monica averages just over 373 yards in totals yards per game on offense, so moving the ball up and down the field shouldn’t be a problem for the Vikings. Santa Monica is hoping to avoid dropping a third straight home game this season to a visiting team.
