Map: Big Blue Bus Routes 2, 8 Begin Long-Term Detour Near Colorado Ave. & 4th St.:

Santa Monica transit authority Big Blue Bus says Routes 2 and 8 will begin long-term detours near Colorado Ave. and 4th St. starting this Thursday, March 26.

The detour is due to the permanent closure of the eastbound lanes on Colorado Ave. between 4th St. and Ocean Ave.

Route 2 to Santa Monica

Regular route to 4th St. at Broadway, then buses will detour and turn right on Broadway, left on Ocean Ave., left on Pico Blvd. and resume regular route.

The following stops will be missed:

  • 4th St. at Santa Monica Place; instead use stop on 4th St. at Broadway.
  • Main St. at City Hall; instead use stop on 4th St. at Pico Blvd.

Route 2 to UCLA

There will be no impacts.

Route 8 to Santa Monica

Regular route to Main St. at Pico Blvd., then buses will detour and turn left on Pico Blvd., right on Ocean Ave., right on Santa Monica Blvd., and resume regular route.

The following stops will be missed:

  • Main St. at Pico Blvd. and City Hall; instead use stop on Main St. at Bay St.
  • 2nd St. at Broadway and Santa Monica Blvd.; instead use stop on Santa Monica Blvd. at 3rd St.

Route 8 to UCLA

Regular route to Broadway at 2nd St. then buses will detour and continue on Broadway to Ocean Ave., turn left on Ocean Ave., left on Pico Blvd., right on Main St., and resume regular route.

The following stops will be missed:

  • 2nd St. at Colorado Ave.; instead use stop on Broadway at 4th St.
  • Main St. at City Hall and Pico Blvd.; instead use stop on Main St. at Bay St.
