Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce board chairman Gregory Day will be stepping down from his position after deciding to leave his job as General Manager of Shutters on the Beach.
Day, who was installed as 2015-16 board chairman on June 10 this year, said it was with sadness that he had to inform Board members of his resignation as the board’s chairman.
The decision came after he resigned from Shutters on the Beach and etc hotels this past Friday, effective Sept. 4, 2015.
“I have found myself presented with an exciting career opportunity as President of Hospitality for Mani Brothers Real Estate,” Day said. “I recognize the burden and difficulty this places upon the chamber board. However I have pledged to our CEO, Laurel Rosen to work diligently to aide in the transition process however she, and you as the board feel is best.
“Thank each of you for your commitment and dedication to the Chamber and the city of Santa Monica and whilst these are surely uncharted waters I have truly been honored to be your Chairman, if only briefly.”
In an email to Chamber of Commerce members, Rosen said Julia Ladd, AVP of Santa Monica Place/Macerich, and Chair 2014-2015 will return to finish the 2015-2016 term as Chair.
“We are eternally grateful to Gregory for his support and wise leadership,” Rosen said. “We wish him great success in all his endeavors. We thank Julia for returning and for leading the Chamber into a successful year as Chair of the Board.”
