The Green Gardens Tour – Santa Monica sustainable is attainable!:

The 2nd Annual Green Gardens Tour – Santa Monica takes place on Saturday, April 29th. The theme of the tour is home ecological gardens, and it is sponsored by the Virginia Avenue Project.

This year’s tour will begin at the Green Garden located at 629 16th St., and will visit seven additional sustainable home gardens. Demonstrations of sustainable gardening techniques will be offered all day at all gardens. The idea is to inspire tour-goers to create their own green garden. Landscape professionals and experts will be on hand to offer information, including how a green garden is truly less expensive than gardens that require lots of water. Ecologically sound plants will be for sale.

All proceeds support the Virginia Avenue Project, a free after-school program dedicated to using the performing arts in conjunction with one-on-one mentoring to help children growing up under difficult circumstances discover their full potential. The Project provides learning opportunities that encourage its participants to think creatively about their lives while giving them the practical skills to turn their dreams into reality.

The tour goes from 10am-4pm. For tickets and more information, go to www. VirginiaAvenueProject.org or contact Tom Carroll at 310.264.4224 or tcvirginia@ gmail.com.
