Governor and Brentwood resident Arnold Schwarzenegger was honored last week at Heal the Bay’s 16th annual Bring Back the Beach dinner.
The governor was honored “for his exemplary contributions to the environmental health of California’s coast and his leadership on the Education and the Environment Initiative.” Said the governor, “We must be diligent in our efforts to keep California at the forefront of environmental protection and resource efficiency, improving our surroundings and making our state a better place to live and visit. Environmental education in our K-12 school system will prepare California’s young people to be knowledgeable citizens, make informed decisions about California’s future and ensure a clean, healthy and secure outlook for our state.”
Other awards were given to National Geographic and musician Brian Wilson, who performed some of the Beach Boys best-loved songs. Sugar Ray Leonard, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Wendie Malick and Kelly Slater attended the festivities.
The evening raised $700,000 for Heal the Bay. For more information, go to healthebay.org.
