The opening reception for a 30-year retrospective of Robbie Conal’s career as artist and activist, titled “NO SPITTING NO KIDDING,” took place at Track 16 Gallery in Bergamot Station on Saturday, October 18. Turnout was huge, and L.A. Latin hip-hop band Ozatmatli played at the event. The show features Conal’s signature political posters made famous as guerilla art on the streets of Los Angeles, as well as charcoal-on-canvas drawings and oil paintings. According to Conal, “All the bad guys are on the walls.” Work from the 70s through the present showcases his astute political insights and biting humor. The show runs through Saturday, November 22.
