UCLA Health recently announced that it will be a presenting sponsor for Light the Night; partnering with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in its mission to find cures for blood cancers.
Jassmine Ahumada’s 7-year-old son, Rey, should be running, jumping and playing outside like most other children his age. Instead, he’s fighting leukemia and “stuck in a bubble,” says his mom, an admissions clerk at UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica. “That word, ‘cancer,’” she adds. “We need to put an end to it.”

Those of you that actually walk the residential streets of Santa Monica, whether taking your dog around the block or heading to Main Street for work on your finger nails, will agree with me that there are stories to be told by the objects set out on our sidewalks.

A vehicle collided with unsuspecting Breeze Bikes Wednesday, Oct. 12, shutting down the 800 block on Ocean Ave for an hour. Santa Monica Police Department recorded both a Traffic Collision with Injuries and a Traffic Control Request, at 12:06, and 12:07 respectively, with onlookers quick to upload photographs of the scene online. Observers reported that a car had flipped on to its roof.
