The company that publishes the Santa Monica Mirror will now publish the Brentwood News as well. The Brentwood News, started in 1991, is a monthly publication with a circulation of 13,150. The Santa Monica Mirror, started 16 years ago, has a weekly circulation of 20,000.
Brentwood News circulation will now be increased to 14,000, starting immediately. The Mirror organization will also take over two websites, BrentwoodNewsOnline.com and WestsideToday.com.
“This is an important move in terms of long-term viability for the Brentwood News,” according to Jeff Hall, editor and publisher of the Brentwood News. “The Mirror is strong and getting stronger. Brentwood News on its own has always been too small. The Mirror also is very good at digital publishing, so this will give a nice boost to the Brentwood News as the world goes increasingly digital.”
Jeff Hall will continue as editor and publisher and continue to write his column, “Brentwood Beat.”
“Jeff has been an important voice in the Brentwood community for a very long time,” said T.J. Montemer, publisher of the Santa Monica Mirror. “We’re delighted Jeff will continue with this.”
Santa Monica Mirror Editor-In-Chief Brenton Garen has been appointed Brentwood News Executive Editor in addition to his current responsibilities.
