The John Muir School PTA will hold its annual silent auction and dinner dance in the grand ballroom of Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel on Friday, April 22.
Established more than 80 years ago, John Muir Elementary School provides high-quality public education to a diverse population of Ocean Park children.
Among other things, the auction proceeds will help pay the salary of a science teacher for the school, as well as partially underwriting the purchase of new classroom computers and costs of art and cultural programs and field trips.
Hundreds of local businesses have contributed goods and services to the silent auction and many have generously contributed to the event itself. Loews Hotel is donating the site and AP Real Estate and the Sea Shore Motel have underwritten many of the costs of the event.
Dinner for the event will be provided by Melisse, Acadie, Dhaba Cuisine of India, Bravo Cucina, Café Bolivar, La Vecchia, Rosti, Thank God It’s Sofia, Chez Jay’s and others.
The Garden Weasels, a band featuring John Muir parent Jeff Wells, will perform, and, during band breaks, deejay Carlos Peralta of Cafe con Leche will take over.

The dinner and auction will be held 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the 22nd.Tickets to the event are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Mail checks payable to John Muir PTA to 2526 Sixth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90405 for advance tickets, and include the names of any guests to facilitate check-in. Tickets will be held at the door.
