Changes Are Coming for Struggling SMC:

Last season, SMC football coach Coach Robert Taylor made significant personnel changes after his team struggled early in the season. SMC recovered to win its final five games.

Taylor hopes the results will be similar as he plans significant changes again this fall.

Currently, SMC is 0-3 following a 44-14 home loss to Citrus Saturday night.

“We were behind 27-0 in the first quarter and not very much went right,’’ said Taylor. “I’m staying positive about what is possible for this team but I’m going to have different players on the special teams and some other changes too.

“Maybe we need a change of scenary. We’re going on the road the next two weeks and that might help.’’

SMC will play at West Los Angeles College Saturday at 1 p.m. The following week SMC will be at LA Southwest.SMC began the season with a one-sided loss at Victor Valley, but Taylor was encouraged with his squad’s competitive performance in a second week loss to Fullerton. However the third week defeat was as disappointing as the opener.
