Bruce Vilanch might very well be the funniest, non-household name working in show business today. If you like the Academy Awards, Vilanch is a good part of the reason. You know those long, tedious sections that are suddenly brought to life by some really funny comic moments? Well, you can thank Bruce Vilanch’s writing skills for that.
Vilanch will be hosting Beth Chayim Chadashim’s annual Humanitarian Awards Brunch. The temple, home to gay and lesbian congregants, will be giving Assemblymember Mark Leno the Humanitarian Award for his work in attempting to legalize gay marriage. Leno’s bill was vetoed by Governor Schwarzenegger.
The event will be held on Sunday, May 21, at the Marina del Rey Marriott, 4100 Admiralty Way. For tickets or more information, call 310.617.0776 or go to www.bcc-la.org. The silent auction and reception begins at 10:30am; the brunch and program follow at 11:30am.
