Santa Monica Means Business:

The nonprofit Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau announced the appointment of Alison Best as Director of Sales. She will be responsible for development and maintenance of Bureau sales and client services, including sales programs designed to generate sales leads and group bookings from Santa Monica’s top feeder markets as well as organizing trade show attendance and overseeing the development of a convention services program. Ms. Best, a native Canadian and current Marina del Rey resident, has over 14 years of hospitality/tourism work experience.

Bureau President/CEO Misti Kerns, who announced Ms. Best’s appointment, also said that Rick Mogil has been named as Visitor Center Store Manager to be responsible for the retail shop, which will include sales and customer services. Mr. Mogil, a Studio City resident, has over 11 years of retail management work experience. The “store” is at 1920 Main St., and the Bureau maintains a kiosk and a Promenade cart, too. www.santamonica.com

Santa Monica resident Linda Waade has joined the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California to lead its external affairs and outreach efforts. Metropolitan General Manager Jeff Kightlinger named her as the district’s deputy general manager of external affairs, where she will be responsible for all communications, outreach and legislative matters.
