The Sunshine Sisters are comprised of several imaginative ladies who have joined forces in an effort to entertain and teach children through the wonder of music. Consisting of experienced artistic and teaching professionals Lonnie Martinez, Janine Cooper and Mona Kolodzie, the Sisters offer music that is cheerful, inspiring and enlightening. Bring the young ones on down for this fun and worthwhile experience. They’ll be too busy giggling and singing to realize just how much they’re actually learning!

Voices from Leimert Park: An Anthology,

February 23, 7:30pm

Experience the works of 50 poets who have all called Leimert Park home. Often regarded as the apex of the African American arts scene in Los Angeles, Leimert Park is a South Central Los Angeles community crackling with jazz and blues clubs in addition to numerous venues for dramatic performances and poetry readings. Filmmaker and resident John Singleton refers to it as “the black Greenwich Village.” It’s also home to Project Blowed, the long-standing, legendary hip-hop open mic night. Go on! Soak up a little culture, why don’t you?
