Mestas Hits, Pitches Venice To Victories:

Danielle Mestas is having quite a season for the Venice High softball team.

Mestas is batting .531 and has a 6-2 record as a pitcher for the Gondoliers, who have an 11-2 overall record and lead the Western League.

Teammate Georgie Dominguez is hitting .533 and Gabrielle Dominguez has the team’s other five wins as a pitcher without a loss.

After defeating Palisades 7-3 in a first place showdown, Venice beat third place Fairfax 11-0 and LACES 20-2.

Palisades, which has an 8-1 record, defeated Hamilton, 5-2, and Fairfax, 9-2, last week.

In other Westside softball:

Santa Monica High had two shutouts, beginning its Ocean League schedule with a 14-0 victory at Inglewood and defeating Beverly Hills 11-0. The Vikings’ overall record is 13-2.

Brentwood defeated Whitney twice, 14-4 and 4-3. Kelsey Grogan is batting .556. Logan Kinsey and Katie Butcher have both pitched two victories.

St. Monica was defeated by identical 7-5 scores by Culver City and Crossroads.
