The Dillards, June 15, 8/10pm
Shining examples of the ’60s progressive bluegrass movement, The Dillards were integral in renewing and popularizing the sound of bluegrass. Formed in 1962 by brothers Doug and Rodney Dillard, this Missouri-based outfit’s influence on country rock has been sorely understated. They’ve collaborated with artists such as Gene Clark, Glen Campbell and Tut Taylor. 1968’s Wheatstraw is widely regarded as their flagship release and credited with influencing countless artists.

Why not journey back to a time when things were simpler, when free love was abounding and all was right with the world? Well, maybe not. Although it was a time when the American music scene was exploding and the now legendary psychedelic ’60s pop classic “Incense and Peppermints” was permeating cerebellums, near and far. Here’s a chance to recapture all that youthful naiveté as Glendale’s Strawberry Alarm Clock make their way to Malibu for a night of psychedelic sweetness. Enjoy the trip. You’ll be glad you did.
