Ex-Loyola Pitcher On Olympic Team:

Jeff Stevens, a former pitcher at Loyola Marymount University, has been selected for the Unites States baseball team that will play in the Olympic Games in Beijing, China next month.

The U.S. will begin play in the eight-team competition Aug. 13 against Korea.

Any player who isn’t on a major league roster is eligible and the U.S. team will consist primarily of professional players who are in the minor leagues.

Two Dodger farmhands were chosen, pitcher Mike Koplove and outfielder Terry Tiffee, who played briefly for the Dodgers earlier this season.
