Treesavers activist Jerry Rubin chained himself to a ficus tree on 4th Street between Broadway and Santa Monica Boulevard on Thursday morning, September 4, as City workers removed sidewalk and street paving and curbs and gutters in preparation for moving several trees. Rubin, who acknowledged that he was impeding the work of the City and said that it was his intention to do so, was arrested.
