Brentwood Meets the Enemy:

Brentwood School football coach Patrick Brown was so unhappy with his team following its 31-0 loss to Campbell Hall last Friday that he reached an unusual decision.

In practice this week Brentwood won’t focus on its next opponent, Montclair Prep. Instead, it will focus on itself.

“We’re not giving ourselves a chance to win,” said Brown, citing four interceptions and three lost fumbles in last week’s game. “It doesn’t matter who we play. We’re our worst enemy. We’re making too many mistakes.”

Campbell Hall returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, Brentwood them fumbled and fell into a 14-0 hole as Campbell Hall scored again. Later, Campbell Hall had a long punt return.

“Kick coverage has been an issue all season and we’ve had our first string defense on the field,” said Brown.

Asked who played well, Brown praised Daniel James for contributing on offense and defense. James had an interception.

As poorly as Brentwood is playing, Brown says “we can turn it around.”

The game against Montclair Prep will be played Saturday at 2 p.m. at Brentwood.
