On Thursday, August 26, at 1:50 p.m. plain-clothes officers of the Santa Monica Police department were conducting surveillance on Lincoln Boulevard looking for anyone who may be committing crimes.
Their attention was drawn to a woman who appeared to be behaving suspiciously, and was dressed in a style that is designed to attract the opposite sex, suggesting that she could be a “woman of the evening,” or a prostitute, if you will.
The officers noticed that this woman was making gestures to passing vehicles. Specifically vehicles that were occupied by solitary males.
One of these solitary males, whose name may, or might not have been “John,” eventually responded to her gestures, and stopped in the 3000 block of Lincoln Boulevard, whereupon the woman entered his vehicle.
The officers continued to observe and after a while they approached the car and apprehended the woman.
Based upon their investigation the officers arrested this 22-year-old woman and she was charged with loitering for the purpose of prostitution.
Her bail was set at $10,000.
