Santa Monica Pier

After a two year hiatus, the Third LA BBQ Festival returns to Santa Monica Beach, in the parking lot north of the pier this weekend. The three day event will feature authentic ‘cue from Texas, Kansas City, Chicago, Santa Maria, and Memphis. There will also be desserts, more 30 beers on tap, wine, cocktails and live music, all included in the $60 price tag for each day. Regional specialties will include tri-tip, brisket, pulled pork and sausages served by such BBQ legends as three-time world champion Butch Lupinetti of Smack Your Lips BBQ in Memphis and eight other nationally recognized pit bosses from all over the country. A percentage of proceeds from will support Noah’s Bark Animal Rescue. Friday is the last day to buy tickets.

Santa Monica Farmer’s Market/ Santa Monica High School / Aero Theatre/ Santa Monica College

The Santa Monica Farmers Market is celebrating its 30th anniversary by partnering with FamilyFarmed.org for this unprecedented multi-day festival to showcase locally and sustainably produced food and innovative leaders from the good food movement. Participants include some of the nation and region’s most distinguished farmers, chefs, artisan food producers, thinkers, and food entrepreneurs. The event consists of events across Santa Monica, including speaker panels, chef demos, a financing fair, exhibitor trade and consumer shows, food policy summit, and film screening, plus a “Localicious Gala” party on the ocean.
