On Thursday, March 15, at 9:40 a.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were conducting a routine check of the bluffs in the 1500 block of the Pacific Coast Highway when they noticed something that was out of place.
They took a closer look and saw that a man was camping amongst sagebrush.
This camping was in contravention of the Santa Monica Municipal Code 3.36.335. The officers spoke with the camper in regards to this violation. During their investigation the officers discovered this man was wanted in Maricopa County for burglary.
The man was arrested on the fugitive warrant and taken off to jail. This 31-year-old homeless man was charged with the aforementioned municipal code offense as well as the fugitive warrant. Bail was not granted.
