Man Arrested For Trespassing At HBO’s Santa Monica Office: APB: A Series Of Disruptions.

On Thursday, March 22, at 4:45 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to the offices of HBO (Home Box Office, a cable television channel), located at 2500 Broadway, in order to investigate a report of a man who was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave.

When the officers arrived, they spoke with the security guard who told them this man had visited the lobby a number of times before, and on each occasion, had created a disturbance. The security guard added that sometime in February of this year this man had been warned that if he attempted a rerun of his previous episodes he would be placed under citizen’s arrest.

On the above date this man did indeed enter the lobby of HBO and asked to see a senior staff member.

The man had been asked to leave after making this request, but he had refused. The officers agreed to accept the private person’s arrest and took this man off to jail charging him with trespassing on a public business, and hopefully making this the last visit to the HBO lobby and therefore the finale of this 43-year-old man’s season of disruption in the building.

The bail for this Los Angeles resident was set at $5,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.

Taiko Takes on Tongva Park:

By Sam Skopp

This past Saturday, the Taiko Center of Los Angeles offered a workshop to Santa Monicans and passersby as part of Tongva Park’s “Family Saturday” series of events.

Reverend Tom Kurai, who’s the director of the Taiko Center of Los Angeles and has performed and taught Taiko drumming in the U.S. for over 40 years, led the workshop. A few additional team members assisted groups of participants, which were comprised of people from elementary school age to nearing retirement age. Regardless of demographic, all participants in the rotating groups of volunteers were enthusiastically following Kurai’s drumming exercises.
