Laurie Lieberman Elected Santa Monica-Malibu USD School Board President:

The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education on Thursday elected Laurie Lieberman to serve as Board President and Maria Leon-Vazquez to serve as Board Vice President.

Lieberman and Leon-Vazquez won their positions by acclamation at the SMMUSD’s annual reorganization meeting.

“Our district is fortunate to have such dedicated elected officials,” said SMMUSD Superintendent Sandra Lyon. “I look forward to working with both Ms. Lieberman and Ms. Leon-Vazquez as they take on their leadership roles for the year.”

Lieberman was elected to serve on the Board of Education in the November 2010 election while Leon-Vazquez was elected to the Board of Education in the November 2000 election.
