Anti-Defamation League To Honor Santa Monica Resident At Awards Dinner:

Santa Monica resident Kalika Nacion Yap, CEO & Founder of Citrus Studios, Inc., Luxe Link, and The Waxing Company is one of three women of achievement from diverse fields being honored by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) at the 19th Annual Deborah Awards Dinner on Wednesday, March 6, at the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills.

ADL presents the Deborah Awards annually to outstanding women whose leadership in their professions and civic contributions exemplify the qualities and ideals of the Anti-Defamation League. The Deborah Award is named for the prophetess Deborah, who is noted for her courage, wisdom and leadership.

The other honorees are: Dr. Sharon S. Nazarian, President, Y&S Nazarian Family Foundation, and Anne Shen Smith, Chairman and CEO of Southern California Gas Company.

Yap, a native of Honolulu, attended NYU as a journalism major.

She worked for several media firms including Bloomberg and CNBC until 1996 when she moved to Los Angeles.

An early adopter of the World Wide Web, Yap joined forces with Los Angeles Culture Net, a collaborative initiative project of the Getty Information Institute and California Culture Net.

She developed web curriculum and web site design workshops for individual artists, art and educational institutions, and students K-12.

In 1998, Yap founded Citrus Studios, Inc., an award-winning interactive design and consulting firm focused on the development of websites for corporations, institutions, museums and universities. Yap is also the inventor and patent design owner of Luxe Link, a unique fashion accessory responsible for keeping thousands of women’s purses off the floor. During the 2009 recession, Yap launched a new business — The Waxing Company — the first high-end waxing company to arrive in Honolulu.

The Master of Ceremonies for the upcoming Awards Dinner will be actress and musician Janina Gavankar, best known for her roles in television shows “True Blood” and “The League.”

This year’s event co-chairs are ADL leaders Robin Gerber Carnesale, Renee White Fraser, Ph.D., and Sharyn Nichols. The event begins with a 6pm cocktail reception, followed by dinner and program at 7pm Tickets are $400 each and sponsorship opportunities are available.
