Bomb Threat Evacuation Lifted At Santa Monica College:

The main quad at Santa Monica College at 1900 Pico Boulevard was briefly evacuated Tuesday lunch time after a note was found in a bathroom that alluded to a potential bomb threat.

SMC campus police called for the help of the Santa Monica Police Department’s K9 unit at about 12:30 pm, according to SMPD Sgt. Richard Lewis.

At 1:02 pm, College officials communicated the following message to students via email.

“The SMC College is evacuating and closing the main campus quad area to investigate a bomb threat,” the email read. “College and local police are on the scene. There is no reason for panic. Please stay clear of the quad area until further notice.”

At 1:32 pm, College officials sent another email saying the threat had been lifted.

“The police have investigated the bomb threat and given the okay to return to the quad area,” the email read. “Thank you for your cooperation and thank you to our police department for ensuring the safety of our College Community.”

SMC campus police have not yet returned calls for further information regarding the incident.
