Santa Monica police arrested a 43-year-old homeless man on Thursday, April 11 who threw a rock through a window of a man’s vehicle the day before.
This story started on Wednesday, April 10, at 8:04 pm, when officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to the 500 block of Olympic Drive after receiving a report of vandalism.
When officers arrived they spoke with the victim who was employed as an attendant at SAMO Shell.
The victim told the officers he had parked his vehicle in front of his workplace and was in the vehicle listening to some music when he overheard an argument that had just started between a man and a woman outside of his vehicle.
The victim then exited the vehicle and attempted to separate the two people arguing.
In response to the victim’s efforts, the male half of the arguing pair told him that he was going to “cut him” if he didn’t go away.
The victim informed this man that he intended to call the police, and then walked away to his place of employment.
Shortly afterwards, a colleague of the victim told him that the man who had been arguing with the woman had thrown a rock through the rear window of his vehicle.
The rock thrower had then left the scene.
The next day, April 11, at 11:24 am the suspect returned to the scene of the crime and was summarily arrested by officers.
This homeless man was thus charged with criminal threats, vandalism, violation of parole, and an outstanding warrant.
Bail was set at $50,000.
