A new Spanish nautical themed spa featuring eight treatment rooms has moved into The Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey.
Spa Nautica opened its doors to the public on March 1, debuting separate rooms for couple’s treatments and wet treatments as well as a full service nail salon.
Spa Nautica has taken on the space left vacant after the former third-party spa operator ceased operations at the AAA Five-Diamond waterfront hotel in 2010.
Spa Nautica’s chic vibe offers bossa nova music in its common areas, Spanish influenced service menu and food menu items, and customizable experiences including in-room music selection, custom massages with master therapists, and couple’s customized treatments including facials and body treatments.
Spa Director Maritsa Victorian said Spa Nautica is the only spa in California performing The L.A. Lift, The Diamond Experience Cryo Repairing Lifting Facial, and The Aroma Awakening Facial.
“As a member of The Green Spa Network, Spa Nautica has organic manicures, pedicures facials, and scalp treatments,” Victorian said. “We use locally sourced products and ingredients. Our nail lacquer is vegan from a local company.”
One of the most popular body treatments since opening last month is the 90-minute Magnetic Ritual Treatment.
Victorian said magnet therapy is a non-invasive alternative method where a magnetic field is applied using magnets to reduce environmental stress and tension.
“Cultivating health and beauty has been a symbol of power since the earliest civilizations,” she said. “Techniques and methods originating hundreds of years ago are still practiced today due to their effectiveness.”
She said magnet therapy falls into this category of ancient practices used for its healing properties.
“Its effectiveness, proved throughout the centuries, is what inspired Natura Bissé to create ‘Diamond Experience Magnetic.’ Its formulation is based on real diamond powder and micronized iron and acquires the properties of the ancient healing art of magnet therapy when combined with body massage maneuvers using neodymium magnets since they are considered ideal to treat skin alterations.”
She said the ‘Diamond Experience’ mineral used in the Magnetic Ritual Therapy is a process that reduces stress, infuses positive energy, and balances the skin throughout the body.
“The therapy combines the application of an iron based emulsion that is removed using two neodymium magnets,” she said. “The massage aspect provides Manual Body Therapy that regulates the Qi (energy flow). It is characterized by a combination of movements that envelops the entire body and focuses on the quality of the touch and sensory nurturing. It combines Western joint and circulatory manipulating techniques with Asian concepts relating to the circulation of vital energy, thereby increasing body awareness through touch and movement.”
Spa Nautica offers a variety of facial treatments.
Victorian said the Aroma Awakening treatment has been a stand out as this treatment includes a facial massage rooted in Ayurveda that combines facial reflexology with the benefits of the Spa Neuro-Aroma Therapy line.
She said the zonal massage is the basis for this sensational global treatment that applies the massage techniques developed by Natura Bissé.
“The zonal massage is performed by stimulating vital organs with pumping, tapping and pressure maneuvers which enhance and stimulate the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems,” she said.
All spa guests are welcome to use its eucalyptus steam rooms before and after treatments, as well as the outdoor pool and jacuzzi.
