On Wednesday, May 15, at 2:24 p.m., officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the CVS Pharmacy at 2505 Santa Monica Boulevard to investigate a report of power (presumably of the electrical kind) “stolen” from the retailer.
The suspect, it was stated in the call, was a known troublemaker at the store.
When the officers arrived at the scene they spoke with the store manager who told them the suspect had previously entered the store and exposed himself, as well as being in a state of intoxication while visiting the premises.
The manager told the officers that he was desirous of a private person’s arrest for the theft of the electricity (the man had apparently used a power outlet at the store as a means to recharge his cellphone).
The officers, after hearing from the manager that this man had been warned about stealing power on several previous occasions, arrested this 36-year-old homeless man.
He was charged (?) with theft of utility services, violation of probation, and a pair of outstanding warrants.
Bail was set at $15,000.
