Two men were arrested Thursday, June 13 after being caught stealing an iPod from a vehicle.
At 5:30 am officers of the Santa Monica Police Department received a radio call informing them that a theft had just occurred on the 1200 block of 10th Street.
The information relayed to the officers suggested that a bicycle had been stolen from an unsecured garage, along with an iPod from a vehicle.
The victim had also reported that he had seen two male suspects walking around carrying flashlights, and that these two were presently at the intersection of 10th Street and Arizona Avenue.
During this time other responding units had detained a pair of male suspects at the aforementioned location.
The officers to this location then transported the victim in order to see if he was able to identify these two men as the same ones that he had seen earlier with the flashlights.
He was able to do this, and he was also able to identify an iPod that was found on the person of one of these suspects as being the one that had been taken from his vehicle.
The officers, during their search of these tow men, also discovered drugs paraphernalia.
The officers arrested these two individuals (one aged 40 and a Malibu resident, the other aged 39, and homeless) and one was charged with residential burglary while the other faced charges of residential burglary and possession of drugs paraphernalia.
Bail was set at $50,250 each.
