Bail was set at $20,000 for a Santa Monica CVS store cashier who admitted to stealing $1,220 from the store on Thursday, Nov. 21.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the CVS store at 2505 Santa Monica Boulevard at 5:45 am on this day in order to investigate a possible theft.
Upon arrival the officers spoke with a loss prevention agent who told them that he had detained a cashier who was employed at the store.
The officers then discovered that the cashier had allegedly completed two transactions where money ($1,000 on one transaction and $220 on the second) had been transferred to a prepaid MasterCard in the cashier’s name.
The officers were also told that on both occasions this cashier’s cash register had been short the exact amounts that had been transferred to the MasterCard.
The cashier had admitted to stealing the money and was arrested without incident.
This 24-year-old Los Angeles resident was charged with theft.
